About Billy's Day-Care For Dogs

PIAABilly’s day-care for dogs is a concept developed by Belmonts owner, Rebecca Vary, and she is assisted in her role by her trusty 11-year-old Bichon frieze “Pokey”. Rebecca grew up in a home with German shepherd dogs, cats, horses and cows. Influenced by her animal loving parents she showed a love and respect for animals from an early age. She got her first dog aged four, a female Labrador cross she named Billy.

Our Wangara branch is owned by Julie "Joolz" Allen, who is familiar to Northern Suburbs pet owners as the owner of Perth Pet Pals, a well regarded home minding and dog walking service. Joolz has 3 cats and 5 year old lab mix called Jackson. Both owners hold a certificate III in companion animal services, as do many of our staff, and have a wide variety of Industry professionals to call upon for information and exchange of information when it comes to dog behaviour.

The inspiration for a pet day-care centre came from an unusual source in April 2006. For some time Rebecca had been thinking of a way to provide a pet service that she herself would want for her own dog. She says: “People at the park were always discussing how they worried about their pet at home alone all day. I was then told by an astrologer that I was suited to a job that would help people through helping their pets, and that was the catalyst for me - I knew I had something to offer the pet community of Perth”

In 2009, Billy's won the Best New business award at the BEC business awards, Rebecca was presented with the award by the Mayor of the City of Belmont. Also in 2009 and again in 2010 Billy's was a nominee in the Dogs Life magazine "pet people awards".

Rebecca trained in the USA in all aspects of the day-care business, and made many contacts with people in the industry that she now considers friends.

The staff at Billy’s share Rebecca and Joolz' respect and interest in animals, and together they provide a loving, safe and fun environment for dogs in Perth.
